What is MUD

One weekend I was bored sitting at home and decided to work on an April Fools day joke for a server I help manage for Neverwinter Nights, Arelith. Sadly, I wasn't able to complete the joke in time but instead this project was born.

From this I started exploring MUD projects and stumbled upon the Evennia project, an open-source framework for hosting MUD worlds. While I could have simply used their framework and gone from there I decided to tinker at the idea of rebuilding it in languages more familiar to me, specifically TypeScript in this case. I am not tied to the idea of sticking with TypeScript and I may end up just running Evannia in the end directly, but this gives me something to tinker with.

As time permits I am likely going to add new things here, slowly rebuilding what Evennia is in this system and expanding the game world. Right now it is quite bare-bones without much to be done, we barely even have an entryway to the game world! In time though maybe something will come from this. If not, no sweat but this is fun either way.
